Congo Squares

 

2 2/3 c. flour

2 ½ t. baking powder

½ t.salt

2/3 c. shortening

2 ¼ c. brown sugar

3 eggs

1 c. walnuts

1 package chocolate chips

 

Sift flour, powder, salt, set aside.  Melt shortening.  Transfer to mixing bowl.  Stir in brown sugar and beat in eggs, one at a time.  Add the flour mixture, stir till blended.  Add the walnuts and chips.  Pour into a greased parchment paper lined 15x10x1 pan.  Bake at 350 degrees 25-30 minutes.
