Double Peanut Butter Cookies

 

1 ½ c. flour

½ c. sugar

½ t. baking soda

¼ t. salt

½ c. shortening

½ c. peanut butter

¼ c. corn syrup

1 T. milk

 

Sift together the dry ingredients.  Cut in shortening and peanut butter till mixture resembles coarse meal.  Blend in corn syrup and milk.  Shaper into a 2 inch roll.  Chill dough.  Slice roll into 1/8-1/4 inch slices.  Place half of the slices on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Spread with ½ teaspoon peanut butter.  Cover with remaining slices, seal edges with tines of a fork.  Bake 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.  Cool slightly and remove to a wire rack.  Makes 2 dozen.
