Granny’s Christmas Cookies

 

1 pound butter, soft

1 c. sugar

2 eggs

2 egg yolks

4 ˝ c. flour

2 t. vanilla

1 (8oz) package candied cherries, cut in half

 

Beat butter at medium speed with mixer until creamy.  Gradually add sugar, beating well.  Add eggs and egg yolks, 1 at a time, beating until blended.  Add flour to mixture gradually, beating at low speed until blended.  Add the vanilla, beating just until blended.  Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on a lightly greased cookie sheet.  Press a candied cherry half in center of each cookie.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove cookies to wire rack and let cool.
