Sausage Bread

 

1 (1 pound) loaf frozen white yeast bread

1 pound italian sausage

1 c. mozzarella cheese

1 t. oregano

2 eggs

grated parmesan cheese

 

Thaw bread, according to package directions, at least 2 hours at room temperature.  Cook sausage in skillet over medium high heat until browned, stirring to crumble, drain.  Place sausage in mixing bowl and allow to cool slightly.  Mix in mozzarella, oregano and 1 egg and stir to blend.  Press and flatten bread dough.  Place on lightly greased baking sheet and continue to stretch and flatten until bread nearly fills baking sheet and is thin and even.  Spoon sausage mixture along center of bread.  Fold sides and edges of bread dough over to form a log, pinch seam together to seal.  Lightly beat the remaining egg and brush over top of loaf.  Cut slashes about 2 inches apart in top of loaf.  Sprinkle top of loaf with parmesan cheese.  Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes.  Allow to cool slightly, then slice.
