2 large yellow onions
ice water
1 c. flour
¼ t. baking soda
¼ t. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 c. buttermilk
fine dry bread crumbs
Discard the onions dry outer skins. Cut both ends off each onion. Slice onions into desired thickness. Soak rings in ice water for at least 2
hours. Add remaining ingredients,
except bread crumbs, and mix for batter.
Dip rings into batter. For extra
crispy onion rings, dip batter coated onion rings into bread crumbs before
frying.
